How to Change Default Browser in Ubuntu Desktop

Ubuntu Desktop comes with Mozilla Firefox as the default Web browser. If you prefer to use another browser such as Chrome or Opera, First install it and then Go to the Default Applications setting and set it as the default browser.

For example, if you want to set Google Chrome as Ubuntu default browser:

  1. Click on the Show Applications button (at bottom left corner) and Open Settings.
  2. Click on the Details, then Default Applications.
  3. Under the Web, click on the drop down menu and select Google Chrome.

Alternative method to open Default Applications setting is to, click on Show Applications button and type Default Applications in the search box.
